Notable Nintendo leaker PH Brazil said on an episode of his podcast, O X do Controle, that Nintendo will host a general Switch Direct in February to coincide with a Pokemon Presentation. The Direct will allegedly focus on the original Switch to start before the presentation is capped off with the Switch 2.
When asked by his co-host if there would be any “big” announcement in the Direct, PH Brazil confirmed that there would be, though he clarified soon after by saying “It’s big for the niche [audience].” He went on to say that this announcement would be a “new version” of a game from a “beloved series” and that he thinks it will be the final game for the Switch 1.
His phrasing originally pointed towards a potential remaster or a port from possibly some franchise whose games have yet to make their way over to the Switch. However, he would later post on Famiboards to clarify that this announcement is allegedly “not a remaster.” This has left the community speculating on what this rumoured announcement will be, with IPs like Star Fox, Fire Emblem, and Kid Icarus making the rounds of mentions.
We’ll have to wait and see if PH Brazil’s words hold come February. If they do, it will be interesting to see what game Nintendo chooses to sunset the original Switch with before everyone’s attention moves over to the Switch 2.
