Here’s every game I’m hyped for in 2026.

For the sake of brevity, I’m going to limit my picks to one release per month. And shout out to GameSpot, whose list I’ll be using for my picks.

January: Cairn

Cairn
Some serene climbing sounds good right about now.

Yes, I know—January has already passed. Procrastination got the better of me; just go with it. Cairn is a climbing adventure game developed and published by The Game Bakers. It reminds me a lot of Jusant, a game I reviewed for GameLuster and gave a pretty solid score. I love its art style, and it’s been getting a lot of critical praise—can’t wait to check it out!

February: Resident Evil Requiem

February is a packed month. From remasters like Dragon Quest VII Reimagined to Team NINJA seemingly pulling off something truly special in Nioh 3 to High on Life 2, it’s about to be a month of bangers. For me, even though I’m not the biggest horror fan, it’s hard not to be hyped to see what Resident Evil Requiem is all about. This game looks phenomenal, and though I doubt I’ll ever see its end credits because I’m a wuss, I’m still looking forward to the nightmares.

March: Replaced

Replaced
Love the look of this one.

March is another month filled to the brim with games. For me, it’s a battle between Replaced, Mouse P.I. For Hire, and Crimson Desert. Crimson Desert looks almost too good to be true. Every time I see footage of this game, I just think, “This can’t be real.” As such, I’m going to stave off my hype until we actually get it in our hands. For now, I’m sticking with Replaced

April: Pragmata

Pragmata
I’m down for whatever weirdness Capcom are up to with this one.

For as much as I loved Housmarque’s Returnal and am looking forward to Saros, I have to give April to Pragmata. Capcom have been on a tear, and the little gameplay we’ve seen so far for this game, coupled with its visuals and overall aesthetic, has me very, very intrigued.

May: Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight

Yes, I know, the 007 game is supposed to come out this month, but come on, it’s the Arkham series—but Lego!

The Summer Slump

June, July, and August have a whole bunch of nothing coming out, as is the norm for the summer gaming slump, and the couple of titles that are releasing don’t particularly intrigue me, so I’m going to skip ahead.

September: Phantom Blade Zero

Phantom Blade Zero
Yeah, okay, it looks like another Black Myth: Wukong, but I’m still here for it.

Chinese developers have been going hog wild these past few years, and things seemingly aren’t stopping any time soon with Phantom Blade Zero, a wuxia-inspired ARPG that looks incredible and is an easy pick for me during an otherwise quiet summer.

August-December: Control: Resonant, GTA VI, Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy, and Gears of War: E-Day,

The rest of the year has a lot of “To Be Confirmed” titles. As such, I’ll go down GameSpot’s list of “Undated” titles and pick out some games that I hope will see the light of day before the end of 2026.

First, Control: Resonant. I love me some Remedy Entertainment; I think they are one of the most interesting developers in the triple-A space, and I cannot wait for the craziness they no doubt have cooked up for this one.

Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy
The trailer was all I needed to solidify my hype.

As a Gears-head, you know I have to go with Gears of War: E-Day for one of my picks. “E-Day” is such a big part of the Gears of War lore, and I’m really looking forward to seeing how The Coalition bring it to life—please don’t f*ck it up. For my penultimate pick, I’m taking Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy. A Plague Tale: Requiem was my GOTY in 2022, and I can’t wait to see what they have in store for their next title. And finally, GTA VI. Not much else I need to elaborate there.
