My brothers, the Shai-tan has been defeated! Prophet Wemby has arrived and has ended the reign of the false MVP and his minion of floppers!
In all seriousness, though, I did feel bad for Shai in Game 7. The man was carrying his squad for the entire game, mostly without resorting to his flopping antics, too. But, alas, it wasn’t enough to overcome the will of Wemby and an overall brilliant game by San Antonio. Side Note: I really should consider betting on NBA games next season, because, if you’ve been reading read this series, you’ll know that I’ve been on the money this entire post-season (aside from Detroit, who messed up my perfect score in Game 7). I said in my last article that even though my mind was saying OKC in six, my heart was saying Spurs in seven—so remember, kids, always follow your heart. Also, I was kidding, don’t gamble, sports betting is ruining professional athletics.
Now, let’s talk about Spurs and Knicks. I haven’t been this excited for an NBA Finals in quite some time. This is the match-up for NBA fans. Also, ya’ll, the New York Knicks are in the NBA Finals. Can we take a moment to talk about that? As someone who’s been watching the NBA since the early 2000s and has grown up being witness to, and taking part in, the ridicule of the Knicks as a franchise, I did not think this was going to happen in my lifetime. Hell, Spike Lee has been waiting for this moment ever since he finished directing He Got Game. But, somehow, Jalen Brunson and his relentless squad made it happen. Mike Brown’s curse has finally been lifted!

Now, in terms of my predictions—this is a tough one. The Knicks are the more dominant offensive team with more options around the perimeter. However, with the threat Wemby poses in the paint, New York may have to lean a little too heavily on their three-point shooting, which could disrupt the more dynamic basketball they’ve been playing throughout this post-season. New York are far more experienced, but as the Spurs have shown (possibly for the first time ever), that may not matter as much. New York has the better overall team, but Wemby is (debatably) the better superstar. Jalen, however, is far more reliable in the clutch.
Again, this is a tough one, but I’m taking the Knicks in six. However, if a Game 7 were to happen back in San Antonio, then I’m going to say the Spurs take it at home.
